Fitness
Thinking a lot about fitness. If I have learned one thing since starting to help people try and be more fit, it is the fact that it is important to some people and others not so much. The interesting thing to me is that once people start, they generally stick with it. It must just be the fact that people lack the initial motivation and then they get addicted on the feeling of waning to pass out and die.

The open workout 1 came and went. It was pretty hard. Pretty annoying that Dr.Vranes killed it. Oh, not too long ago, he couldn't overhead squat the bar and now the little tiger has grown up. The interesting part about competitive exercising is it is always going to expose your weaknesses. When you know you are going to be held accountable for your score, you go all out as hard as you can until you realize you just can't do it. That is why I enjoy the crossfit open, because you force yourself to go to that dark place that otherwise you normally would no go.

Satan's Bicycle
So a little over a year ago is when I heard about this really cool workout that you could do on something called a Schwinn Airdyne. Didn't sound too bad, ride a bike as fast as you can for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds repeat 10 times. 5 minute workout, no big deal. Looked on KSL, found this old rusty gold airdyne with no electronic monitor in Logan for 50 bucks. Doubtful the whole time, I went and picked it up from this really old lady named Grandma Jones. Brought it home and called John. He was the first to do it and this above picture is what he looked liked. I thought it couldn't possible be that bad so I tried it and I was dry heaving for two hours afterwards and so began our journey with the airdyne. Our latest workout with this was a great one:
4 rounds: 25 Cal. Airdyne sprint, 16 wall balls 12 burpees, Rest 2 min.
Just like always, harder than heck and makes you want to puke. According to Schwinn the reason why i sucks so bad is he harder you push it, he more resistance it gives back. So you are pedaling harder and faster swearing the whole time (in your head of course) and it is just punching you in the kidneys over and over and over again. Always a good time on the airdyne.
Dream Come True
So last Saturday we did a rather enjoyable workout as you can see by the picture of Chad lying dead on the floor. While it was going on, I had the thought that I have many times while being at the gym. And that is, how freaking awesome is it to be in a place where these people care about their fitness to the point that they are willing to push themselves of utter and complete exhaustion. From those that do the workout perfectly as laid out to those that try their darnedest to get the bar up, it is just plain awesome. I tell my wonderful wife this all the time, it is awesome to train people that give full effort.
On a side note, it is pretty crazy how you can do a workout that does more for you physically in 5-15 minutes than 2 hours of jogging does and still be able to function the rest of the day.
Here is the picture of the awesome Saturday group.
