Rest Day

I rode in the car yesterday with a fellow co-worker and he starting talking about weight and body fat percentage.  He was so worried about being at a certain weight and he thought that once he got to that weight he would like the way he wanted.  I think there are many people out there if not most that think this way.  The more I get into real "fitness" the more I believe that the weight on the scale is just one more factor in the bigger realm of things as far as what is your end goal.  Do you want to lose 50 pounds unhealthily and look deathly skinny?  Then start starving yourself and go do a whole bunch of cardio.   Being fit is so much more than that.  It is being able to handle your body in a way that can produce life saving results i.e. pulling yourself up onto a branch when dangling from a cliff.  Furthermore it is being able to do similar feats with external weight factors such as having someone on your back.  I really believe that the harder you work towards being fit, the healthier you will become.  And looking the way you want to?  Yep that is going to happen too, but rather than be this big stressful deal in your life, it is just going to be a less-stressful by-product of working hard.

Well as Calvin so politely reminded me last night.  It has been exactly one year since our little group started training together.  It is really awesome to see people come and go but especially awesome to see people come and work hard and get in really good shape.  I remember one person had a goal to do 10 HSPU and now they are busting out 15 and doing extra range of motion.  We also continue to crush P.R.s which is a really cool thing.
Here are some pictures from the early days:

1/24/13

Getting closer to moving in to the new place...Really nervous and excited about it all working out.  It has always been a dream to own a gym and more recently it has been a goal to own a gym that produces results and is just not your run of the mill cardio fairground.  As I look back at my relatively short fitness background, I used to go to the gym, do biceps one day and chest the next, once in awhile doing something relative to legs and back.  Mostly machine work just enough so that I was not a flabby wonder.  Now having gone down the path I have, I realize there is so much more.  Yesterday, did a workout that was pretty tough. For me, it was two parts: The first part was:
10 min AMRAP
squat cleans @ 135# with 4 toes to bar on the top of each minute.

Rest 5 minutes

The second part was 3 rounds for time:
25 Kettlbell swings 70#
25 burpees.

I saved a little too much for part B.  Even though I was dead by the end, I should have put up better numbers on the part A.
On a side note, I re-rolled my ankle today after rolling it last week.....Makes me not want to play basketball ever again....

New Spot

Box Elder Elite Fitness will be moving.  The are a variety of reason for the move, one so we have more space and can accommodate more people.  Another would be to have a place for my wife to park her car and not have weights dropping during nap time.  It will also be a place where a higher level of training can take place.  Lastly, my neighbor will not have to call the cops anymore because people are lifting weights in my garage.  It would be awesome to have more people join for the workouts.  People that know about what we do, often say things like I couldn't do that, or it is too hard.  My answer would be anybody can do it, just ask the super-fit ladies that have been working out in the mornings! And "if it were easy, everyone would do it."  I really believe that this type of training is one of the best routes you can go for a high level of fitness and better quality of life.  So officers Glover, Rackham and Calchera stop procrastinating and get in here.
